Performance High Performance with Less Effort Kickfire delivers complex query performance 10-100X faster than a traditional RDBMS. At the core of the appliance is the world's first SQL chip that uses parallel, pipelined data flow to deliver the power of tens of high-end, general purpose CPUs. With large on-board memory, compressed columnar storage, automatic index creation and a SQL chip-aware query optimizer that rewrites queries for fast hardware-based execution, Kickfire redefines high-performance query processing without relying on hardware buildouts or complex tuning. Fast Data Migration and Loading Getting data into Kickfire from other database sources is simple and easy. Schemas, constraints and data can all be migrated using a wizard-driven interface. The Kickfire Fast Loader (KFL) supports full and incremental data loads and leverages the SQL chip to enable high-speed data transfer. Ease of Use and Administration Deployment, Development and Data Migration Ease Kickfire appliances are delivered with pre-installed software and hardware components enabling quick setup in minutes. Superior query performance is achieved without specialized star schema, data transformation logic or aggregate table designs. Transactional or operational schemas can be used, significantly reducing development time and the problems associated with application re-design or manual tuning. These capabilities dramatically reduce time to end-user value. 100% Transparent Access to Data The modular architecture on which Kickfire appliances are based makes the power of the SQL chip and the Kickfire software technology transparently available to MySQL application developers. With Kickfire, existing MySQL scripts, SQL code and query tools will work and MySQL DBAs know how to manage them. And, Kickfire is ACID compliant so transactions are safe. Small Form Factor Means Less Data Center Complexity Kickfire appliances are small enough that they can be stored as a desktop or desk-side server or in a closet at normal room temperatures without requiring special data center environments. Rapid Response to Business User Requests Kickfire's innovative hardware and software architecture is pre-tuned for high-performance query applications out of the box, making it ideal for MySQL data warehousing. This means that requests for new reports and ad hoc user queries can be supported without building new aggregate tables, creating indexes or changing the database schema. Economics High-End Performance with Less Hardware Kickfire's innovative column-store software, data compression and SQL Chip -- which packs the power of 10s of general purpose CPUs into a single chip -- delivers high-end database performance at approximately 1/10th the cost of equivalent performing systems. Lower Power Costs and Less Data Center Overhead Recent studies show the annualized cost of data center power per server is greater than half the server cost and trending upward. With energy consumption equivalent to that of a microwave oven and a factor up to 90% lower than comparable high-performance commercial parallel or clustered database systems, a Kickfire appliance can pay for itself in a few years from lower power and data center overhead costs. |

Data warehousing solutions have long struggled with the trade offs between performance, ease-of-use and economics. Today, to achieve high performance, ease of use and economics must be compromised; to build a solution at low cost, performance, ongoing ease of use and flexibility must be compromised.
